Painful, and seems to occur under tack, but may also occur on other parts of the body including the pasterns and dorsal surfaces of the tail. Will sometimes spread slowly from horse to horse. Common. Dx by culture of STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS, S. HYICUS, S. INTERMEDIUS, S. ALBUS, CORYNEBACTERIUM PSEUDOTUBERCULOSIS, C. EQUI, ACTNOMYCES VISCOSUS, or other bacteria such as BACILLUS sp. from lesions. |
