| 英文描述 | Dorsal displacement of the soft palate is the intermittent or persistent displacement of the caudal free margin of the soft palate dorsal to the epiglottis. Most cases are reported in horses 1-16 years of age, but an apparently congenital form was reported in foals. Adult horses are normal at rest, but have intermittent or continual exercise intolerance or abnormal noise during exercise. Also known as soft- palate paresis, elongation or hypertropy, functional pharyngeal obstruction and laryngopalatal dislocation. Dx by history and endoscopy showing persistent displacement despite swallowing or following exercise, but some animals may be affected despite normal endoscopic examination. |
