| 英文描述 | Equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy is a neuroaxonal dystrophy of unknown cause that affects horses of several breeds. Affected animals usually range in age from 2 months to 3 years, but it has been observed in horses up to 12 years old. The onset can be abrupt but is generally insidious; clinical signs are progressive and symmetric. In tetraparetic animals signs in the thoracic limbs can sometimes be as severe as or even worse than those in the hind limbs, unlike the pattern in most other diseases affecting the cervical spinal cord. Histology shows neuroaxonal dystrophy in brain stem nuclei and difusely throughout the spinal cord. This is a common neurologic disease in horses referred to veterinary hospitals. |
