| 英文描述 | Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is the most commonly recognized feline myocardial disease. Affected animals have ranged in age from 3 months to 17 years, with males at increased risk. It is characterized by primary concentric hypertrophy of the left ventricle. The cause is unknown, some reports suggest that there is an inherited component of this disease in cats. Ventricular hypertrophy results in decreased compliance and distensibility. Cardiac output is further impaired by reduced chamber volume. Usually accompanied by left atrial dilatation, and thromboembolism often occurs secondarily. Dx by clinical signs, physical exam, radiology (valentine-shape heart), and EKG. Angiocardiography and echocardiography are diagnostic. |
